Middle School Elects 2023-24 Student Government Officers

Indian Creek Middle School student body gathered in the Jack and Nancy Becker Center for the Performing Arts last Friday, September 15, to hear from their classmates about their plans for how to make the 2023-24 school year the best year ever!

Close to 20 candidates, including several students new to Indian Creek, stood in front of their peers and teachers and gave speeches about what they can contribute to the school this year.  Following the speeches, the Middle School students voted to elect their Student Government Association (SGA) officers, and then the entire Middle School celebrated with a Roller Skating Celebration at Skate Zone.

Middle School Principal Matt McCormick expressed his pride in all of the students who ran for office, sharing that "It's not easy to get up in front of an audience and every one of these candidates crushed it.  There were some great ideas thrown out today, and I can already tell that it's going to be a great school year. Each student who spoke today is a leader."

Congratulations to the 2023-24 Middle School SGA officers:
  • President: Malaya Johnson
  • Vice President: Justin Sonecha
  • Secretary/Treasurer: Doanya Assadi
  • 7th Grade Representatives: Katelyn Bowen & Sophia Margerum
  • 6th Grade Representatives: Henry Akins & Kiva Hiller
