Mobile Science Lab for Lower School

Eagles Athletics Complex
LS Students will experience the Mobile Science Lab throughout the week. The aquatic lab will allow students to discover how farmers protect the environment and the Chesapeake Bay. It will teach students how to measure dissolved oxygen, nitrates, and ammonia to determine water quality and habitat conditions. Students will test water samples to identify which wells might be influenced by a point source pollutant. They will also test the water-holding capacity of a corn-based product to understand how it can promote seed and plant growth and help clean up oil spills. Additionally, they will set up a water recycling experiment to see if polluted water can be cleaned. The lab will also cover how integrated pest management methods help farmers protect their crops and the environment.
