ICS Pre-K through third grade students enjoyed a treat today, as some special guests visited their classes to read a story, and share information about how to take care of their teeth. Indian Creek alum, author, and third-year dental student at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine Elizabeth Crowe '08 spent time with our Lower School students and shared her children's book "The Tooth Fairy's Busy Day."
Elizabeth and her co-author and classmate at Columbia Marissa Rifkin read their story, which follows the Tooth Fairy as she checks in on three special children with loose teeth. Throughout her journey, the Tooth Fairy helps young readers learn about eating healthy, taking care of their teeth, and visiting the dentist! They also treated the students to a fun oral hygiene activity, instructions for proper tooth-brushing, and spoke with the students about dentistry as a career.
The children were also thrilled to see local orthodontist, ICS alumni parent, and school supporter Dr. Mairead O’Reilly at school as well. Dr. O’Reilly was kind enough to purchase a book for every Pre-K through third grade so that they could share the story with their families at home.
Thank you to Elizabeth Crowe, Marissa Rifkin, and Mairead O'Reilly for providing this wonderful morning for ICS Lower School students.
