Eagles Conquer the Water as Varsity Girls Swim Excels at IAAM Championships

The Varsity Girls swim team excelled at the IAAM Championships, Monday, finishing fourth overall and logging several stellar individual podium appearances!

Junior Lily Swope paced the Eagles with first place finishes in both the 100 yard Backstroke and the 100 yard Butterfly. (Lily is now a three-time champion in both events!) Her freestyle relay split of 52.34 seconds also set a new school record.

The Eagles 400 yard Freestyle relay team took third place and earned a spot on the podium. The team was made up of Swope, Grace Achatz '28, Maia Riley '26 and Violet Vannoy '26.

Athletic Director Fredrica Newman shared the impact that the girls have had this season. "It's amazing to see the dedication and success of our swimmers in such a young program. Three years in, and we have been able to witness some incredible individual and team achievements. We are so proud of the commitment that the swimmers have: Early mornings, late nights, weekend meets...It's hard to describe the amount of effort that these swimmers put in. Most importantly, we are proud of their support of one another."

Varsity Coach Kelly Boring agrees. ""I am so proud of this team. We are half the size of last year's team and managed to score almost as many points. Many of the girls had their fastest swims of the season at the Championships. The best part was the joy everyone felt when the 400 free relay took third place to finish the meet."

The Varsity Boys Swim team will look to build on their success at MIAA Championships on Wednesday
