Varsity Boys Swim Team, Led by Nicholes '28, Makes ICS History at MIAA Championships

Congratulations to the Eagles Varsity Boys Swim team, for capping off a great season with a sixth place finish at MIAA B-Conference Championships last Wednesday.

Brecken Nicholes '28 made ICS history, as he earned the team's first and second podium finishes with a second-place swim in the 200 freestyle, followed by a third place in the 500 freestyle. Senior Preston Shapiro was the next top scorer for the team, with a fifth place finish in the 100 free and 10th place in the 50 free. The relay team of Owen Crum '26, Shapiro, Liam Foley '26 and Nicholes finished in fourth place to close out the meet.

The boys celebrated several personal best times in the Championship meet as well. Junior Andrew Kokoski dropped almost 9 seconds in the 200 free to score points for the team. Other PBRs were achieved by Foley (200 free), Jake Berry '25 (50 free & 100 back), Crum (100 free), and Kokoski (100 free). Liam Mixter '27 scored in the 100 breast, while Michael Vannoy '27 contributed by matching his best times in the 200 and 50 free, and had a great relay split in the 200 medley relay.

This historic meet was a great milestone for the two-year-old team.  Coach Kelly Boring shares, "I am so incredibly proud of this team for working hard, trusting the process, and supporting each other. It's a tight-knit group that wants to see each other succeed. They came together at Championships for some of the best swims of the season."

Congratulations to the Eagles Varsity Boys Swim team!
